Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Baseer Ahmad Khan Wednesday urged people to use water and electricity judiciously in view of prevailing dry weather spell here.He also appealed general masses to avoid power theft through illegal connections which he said results in overloading of the system and hampers smooth supply of electricity.The Divisional Commissioner said that since the Kashmir valley has been witnessing unprecedented dry spell, it has greatly affected the groundwater reserve and over ground discharge thereby resulting in scarcity of water in city areas and smooth supply of electricity all over the division.He directed the concerned to augment water supply to the water-stressed areas by deploying mobile water tankers and called for setting up helpline numbers on which people can contact in case of emergencies.He also directed the PDD authorities to strictly supply electricity as per the notified schedule.
