Union food processing minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal today led the people in pledging to transform the country into a new India in the next five years.The Union minister, who presided over an exhibition cum seminar “New India- We Resolve to Make” here, said it was the duty of each citizen to work towards this resolve. She said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had taken the lead in spelling out this vision and now it was up to everyone to spread this message in each nook and corner of the country to make it a reality.Mrs Badal said the new India movement 2017-2022 envisaged an India free of poverty, corruption, terrorism, communalism, casteism and un-cleanliness. She said citizens themselves must come forward to reform and transform India through a common resolve for positive transformation. An exhibition at the event show cased various activities initiated to attain freedom from British Rule like First War of Independence, 1857, Champaran Satyagrah, 1917, Non-cooperation Movement, Dandi Yatra, and the Quit India Movement. There were also exhibits of “Beti Bachao” and Digitial India initiatives.Chandigarh mp Mrs Kiron Kher also spoke on the occasion.
