Three interstate Drug Peddlers arrested with 25kg Poppy Straw

In continuation to operation SANJEEVANI, a special drive against drugs launched by Jammu Police, a major success was achieved when three interstate drug peddlers were apprehended by Gangyal Police and 25kg Poppy Straw Seized.Today Gangyal Police acting on a specific information laid a naka at Kunjwani Chowk. During naka checking three pedestrians with their carry bags coming from Satwari towards Bari Brahmna were signalled to stop for Police check. On seeing the Police party they tried to escape from the spot but alert naka party chased and intercepted them. Two of them belong to Kashmir and one from Punjab. During search of their carry bags 25 Kg Poppy Straw (Bukki) was recovered from their possession. In this regard a case FIR No. 60/2017 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Gangyal and further investigation of the case is going on. During preliminary inquiry they revealed that consignment was brought from Srinagar and meant for further sale among the youth to earn illegitimate profit. The arrest and recovery was made by team headed by SHO P/S Gangyal SI Nayat Ali, under the supervision of SDPO City South, Sh. Rafiq Manhas and SP City South, Sh. Sandeep Choudhary, IPS.
