Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today listened to the people’s issues at a grievance redressal camp held at Suchetgarh.The Minister took stock of public issues and reviewed the status of decisions taken in previous public meetings.Villagers hailing from Sai Kalan, Haripur, Badyal Brahmana, Mokha, Kheper, Kanachak, Katyal, Bidhipur, Baspur, Kotli, Abtal, Uttabali,  Fatehpur Salai, Dablat and Bega Bera apprised the Minister about their concerns regarding power supply, water supply, road connectivity and sanitation.They also sought disposal of pending widow pension cases, construction of houses for the homeless and revision of BPL list. The villagers also demanded upgrading of transformers, replacement of electric poles to augment power supply and construction of lanes and drains.After listening to their problems, Sham Choudhary assured them that their genuine demands would be addressed in a phased manner.

Interacting with the deputations from different villages, the Minister said the government has taken many extraordinary steps for the welfare of the common masses and special stress is being laid on the uplift of weaker sections of the society, people living on borders and far-flung areas.Later, the Minister inspected the desilting works on Distributary (D-17) main Ranbir Canal from off point RD 2100 to Tail End RD 11000. He directed the officers to expedite the pace of desilting work so that sufficient water can be provided to the farmers for irrigation purposes.He further directed that desilting should be done deep upto the canal bed and proper dumping of garbage retrieved from it before releasing the water in the canal.The Minister also enquired about the status of notices being served to the encroachers and those who throw garbage in the canals. He directed the officers to launch plantation drive along the canals with fencing of the covered area to save the plants.Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineer, Junior Engineers accompanied the Minister during the inspection visit.
