Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) leaders on Friday staged peaceful demonstrations against recent killings and appealed people to boycott upcoming election, the statement said.According to the statement issued to KNS, The JKLF spokesman said that the amalgam leaders today held protest and boycott programs at various places including Maisuma Lal Chowk, South Kashmir and central Kashmir and besides staging peaceful protests against Chadoora carnage, appealed people to stay away from casting votes in upcoming Indian election. The spokesman said that Noor Muhammad Kalwal addressed people at Koreg Ganderbal, while as JKLF leaders Muhammad Yasin Butt, Shiekh Abdul Rashid, Javed Zargar and Muhammad Sideeq Shah took part in protest at Miasuma, Zahoor Ahmad Butt addressed people at Litter Pulwama, Siraj ud din Mir at Soibugh Budgam, and professor Javed at Natipora.

JKLF deputy district president Ganderbal, Ghulam Jeelani Rather addressed people at Hilpati Gund and Khaw Hakinaar Kangan while as peer Rashid at Mohanpora Budgam and another JKLF leader addressed gathering at Hardutoor Shangus.Among various places visited by JKLF leaders and activists today included Yasoo, Hardutor, Shangus, Telwani, Toor, Kreeribal, Bejbihara, Katoo and Khiram Sirhama in Islamabad, Soibugh, Galwanpora, Sabden, Chadipora, Narkara, Bethaar, Mohanpora in Budgam, Mehjoor Nagar and Natipora in Srinagar, Khalmola, Bakoora, Nagabal, Sumbal Bala, Chatargul Kangan, Ganwen and Rengil in Ganderbal, Litter, Newa, Warwan, Kakpora, Koeil, Aglar and Aarihal in Pulwama district. While deliberating upon the ‘ill-consequences’ of participation in the elections, JKLF leaders said, “As a living nation it is our duty to safeguard the sacrifices rendered by our kith and kin and stay away from any program or activity that is detrimental to our sacred cause.”JKLF leaders according to the spokesman said, “Killers and their abettors don’t deserve our votes and participating in elections is like strengthening the hands of oppressors.

”They appealed people to remain vigilant and defeat ‘nefarious designs of illegal occupation’ by their peaceful resolve and complete boycott.Meanwhile, the spokesman said that police in its pursuit to stop peaceful protest at Maisuma had laid a siege around the whole area and even disrupted Friday prayers at Madeena Chowk.“Police trampled the carpets meant for prayers with their boots and people offering Nimaz protested against this police highhandedness. Despite all this police aggression and highhandedness,” the spokesman said.JKLF leaders along with people from many walks of life staged a peaceful protest against recent killing spree and appealed people to boycott upcoming Indian election.“Pamphlets and written appeal of united resistance leadership was also distributed among people on the occasion,” the statement adds. Addressing the participants of the peaceful protest, JKLF leaders said that boycotting elections is a democratic right of people but police has unleashed a ‘reign of terror’ to deny people this right.

While condemning the nocturnal raids and arrests, speakers said that police arrested young Sajad Ahmad Rather in place of his father Nazir Ahmad rather at Malshahi Bagh Ganderbal. The spokesman said that similarly, police raided the residences of JKLF district president Pulwama Javed Ahmad Butt and secretary Muhammad Altaf Riana and Mushtaq Ahmad of Koreg Gandebal.Police have also arrested various activists from Arihal Pulwama including Muhammad Ashraf Wagay, Nadeem Ahmad Lone, Gulzar Ahmad Lone, Zakir Ahmad Mir and Tanveer Ahmad Illahi and sent them to various police stations and jails. While condemning these ‘atrocities’, JKLF speakers said, “How can India, the Kashmir rulers and occupational forces talk of democracy and ethics when they are not ready to allow any sort of peaceful resistance.”Speakers said that by arresting sons in place of fathers and fathers in place of their sons and ‘terrorizing’ peaceful political activists, police is actually ‘promoting worst violence’ and pushing people to the wall. They said that despite all these restrictions and hardships, peaceful resistance will continue till the achievement of the desired goal.
