The Rules Committee of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council met here today to discuss bringing further improvement in functioning of the Upper House.Chairman Legislative Council, Haji Anayat Ali chaired the meeting.During the meeting, the Committee decided to adopt the proposed amendment in Rule No 15 regarding quorum of sitting of the Council. The Committee decided that the quorum to constitute a sitting of the Council shall be 10 members which shall not include the Chairman and Minister or a Minister of State.The Committee also decided to agree to the proposed amendment in Rule 174 regarding Calling Attention Notice being discussed in the Council. It was decided that, in future, five calling attention notices of various members shall be taken up for discussion instead of two at present.Legislators, Qaiser Jamsheed Lone, G N Monga, Saif-ud-Din Bhat, Ramesh Arora, Vibodh Gupta and Muhammad Khursheed Alam attended the meeting and gave their suggestions regarding further improvement in the Council proceedings.Chairman instructed the members of all the House Committees to take the task seriously and attend the meetings of the particular Committee regularly.Among others, Secretary Legislative Council, Abdul Majid Bhat, senior officers and officials of Council Secretariat were present in the meeting.
