Doctors, experts deliver lectures on women health issues, self employment

In its endeavor to provide health services to women on the occasion of the International Women’s day, Police Wives Welfare Association (PWWA) today organized two free medical camps for women at Government Women’s college M.A Road Srinagar and Housing Colony Qamarwari Bemina.Besides, medical camps experts and well known gynecologists   delivered useful talks and lectures on women empowerment through self employment schemes and on women related health issues. Medical camp at Women’s college was organized  in collaboration with Modern Hospital, Florence Hospital Srinagar  and the camp at Qamarwari Bemina was organized in collaboration with police Hospital Srinagar, Sheri-Kashmir institute of Medical Science Soura and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya Aarogya Jeevan Sansthan, Rajasthan and Action Aid.Speaking at Women’s Collage M.A road Srinagar,, Member PWWA, Dr. Pallavi Gillani said that Police Wives Welfare Association has organized two medical camps to celebrate International women’s day in true spirit by providing comprehensive health services to the women folk. There are some health issues that are unique to women and organizing these camps was an attempt to educate them  about these issues, she added.

In these camps, students from women’s college Srinagar and a huge number of women from police Housing Colony Qamarwari and Bemina participated. In these  camps the physicians and gynecologists conducted  general checkup of the women.On the spot Ultrasonographs and ECGs as well as treatment for joint pain back pain through Acupressure  techniques were provided. At police housing colony camp, Miss Shafiya Naqshbandi of Action Aid gave a lecture on the availability of employment opportunities for women in Government and private sector and also highlighted the schemes for self employment launched by Central and state government for the welfare of women.Dr. Nahid and Dr. Baljeet of Police Hospital Srinagar threw light on different health issues faced by the women during different stages of life.On this occasion, Medical Superintendent  Police  hospital Srinagar Dr. Bilal Raja was also present.
