A day long training programme on organic farming was organized by Salal Power Station, NHPC Ltd under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) here today. District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar was chief guest on the occasion.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Babu Ram, General Manager Salal Power Station NHPC Ltd, A M Ansari, Director Research SKUAST Jammu J.P. Sharma, team of scientists, officers and farmers in large were also present.The scientists delivered technical lectures on organic field, integrated farming, crop rotation, nutrient recycling, water resources, record keeping, selection of crop, use of organic seeds, certification, marketing, soil sustainability etc.
District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar while speaking on the occasion stressed the need to promote organic farming to ensure better produce.General Manager while elaborating on the initiatives to promote organic farming in the district said that a series of trainings are being organized with the help of experts and scientists which will certainly prove fruitful for the farmers and fruit growers.
