The Shiromani Akali Dal today hit back at PPCC Chief Capt Amarinder Singh for trying to defame the state with his claim that ‘situation in the state has deteriorated to unprecedented levels’ and said that Punjab is a peaceful state and he need to panic to some unwarranted incidents.In a statement released from the party head office here today, the SAD Secretary and Spokesman Dr. Daljit Singh Cheema said that though occurrence of any violent incident is unfortunate in the state, but situation is not such as the PPCC Chief has sought to paint. He said that his claim of SAD-BJP combine government ‘allowing armed goons to terrorize the people in the run up to the polls to pressurize them to vote for Akali Dal’ is totally false, baseless and aimed at maligning the image of the state.The SAD leader said that it was rather surprising that the PPCC Chief sees voting in every thing which happens in the state. He reminded the former CM that Punjab has a history of peaceful polling and never any major incident of violence has occurred during the electioneering period in the state.He said that by issuing baseless statements the Congress leader is trying to threaten the Punjab police force as it is his trademark politics and he uses this old tactics since long. He reminded the former CM that the crime rate of the state depicts that the Punjab Police is doing its duty with full devotion. He urged the PPCC Chief to desist from threatening the police officials who are pursuing their bona fide duty. Dr. Cheema further said that from the actions of the PPCC Chief it appears that the former CM has already sensed crushing defeat at the hands of the SAD-BJP combine. He said that the mood of the voters is indicative of the fact that they have made up their mind to repeat those who had contributed to unprecedented development of the state and worked for the upliftment of the society as whole with a number of welfare schemes and it is non other than the SAD-BJP combine.The SAD leader urged the state Congress Chief that instead of trying to malign the image of the state, he should start work sincerely for the glorification of the state and accept that the state has made remarkable development during the last 10 year rule of the SAD-BJP combine.
