The wrestlers of 15 Sector Rashtriya Rifles(RR) of Reasi Rhinos team swept the Pir Panjal Wrestling Leage “Yuva Yodha” title in all the seven categories on the final day of the week long Inter District Wrestling Championship organised by the Indian Army under its Sadbhavana mission at Govt Higher Secondary School, Ramban today.The General Officer Commanding of Delta Force was the chief guest on the occasion Commander 11 Sector, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Mohammed Aijaz, DIG DKR Range, Nisar Ahmed, SSP Ramban, Randeep Kumar, Shiv Kumar Sharma, President State Wrestling Federation were also present on the occasion.The winning team of 15 Sector RR was awarded with cash prize of Rs.31,000 and a Rolling Trophy while as the runner up team of 11 Sector RR was awarded with Rs.21,000. Every winner and the runner up in each weight category was awarded with cash prize of Rs.15,000 and Rs.7,000 respectively.
The Wrestling Championship, started on October 15, witnessed the participation of over 100 wrestlers from six districts of the state under the weight categories of 57 Kg, 61 Kg, 65 Kg, 70 Kg, 74 Kg, 86 Kg and 97 Kg as per the rules Wrestling Federation of India .As many as eight matches were held in each weight category.Seven teams including Red Devil Ramban, Rajaurian Ranchos, Poonch Panthers, Kishtwar Warriors, Daring Dodians, Naushera Ninjas and Reasi Rhinos.participated in the championship.On the occasion a special bout of Indian Style Wrestling between Ajay Sharma of Udhampur and Mohammed Sadik of Jammu was also enjoyed by a huge crowd. The former was awarded Rs.15,000 and the latter Rs.10,000.The Olympian Medalist, Padam Bhushan,Yogeshwar Dutt alongwith his Guru, Narinder was the cynosure during the final match.On the occasion an entertaining cultural programme was also present by the artists of Neeta and Adresh Group besides the students of local schools.
