Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh while speaking on the closing ceremony of Bawan Dwadasi fair at Sarahan in Pachhad assembly segment of Sirmaur district directed that SDM would sit at Sarahan for ten days in a month and assured that he would certainly look into the demand for opening permanent SDM office later. He declared Dwadasi fair to be a State level fair. He said that adequate funds would be provided for expansion of helipad at Kwagdhar.The Chief Minister exhorted the people to preserve the culture and traditions and such fairs which were being celebrated since times immemorial were the identity of our age old customs. “We are known and identified by our customs and traditions and without them we cease to exist”, he said. He said that all the colleges in Sirmaur were opened by the Congress Governments. He said that Dr.Y.S.Parmar Medical College at Nahan had started functioning and the first batch had been started. He said that the present government always make announcements after ensuring adequate provision of funds and does not make announcements just for the sake of it. “I discuss before making announcement and assure that adequate funds were there for its functioning”, he said.He said that maximum colleges in Sirmaur had been opened in far flung areas just to ensure that the girl child achieves higher education at their very door step. He said a provision of Rs 10 crore had been made for opening college at Sarahan.
He said that whenever BJP came to power under the Chief Ministership of Shri Prem Kumar Dhumal, twice the false cases were framed against him and twice he faced session trials and was acquitted. “I will fight till the last to show dust to BJP leaders of the State and one of their Union Minister who were hatching conspiracies against me and were hand in glove and I am not afraid of them”, he said. Without naming anyone, the Chief Minister quipped that one of BJP leader, who could not succeed in his political motives and his ends meet in Solan district, migrated to Nahan to make fool of people here, but I am sure that the people were wise enough to understand the cheap tactics of such people who try to lure people with money power. “He won because of money power not because of his image”, he said.He also inaugurated Rs 1.54 crore Tehsil office complex at Sarahan in Pachhad constituency and also Tourism reception centre and way side amenities complex at Sarahan completed with an outlay of Rs. 80 lakh. He also viewed the traditional ‘Chinjj’ , the wrestling bouts which were the main attraction of the Dwadasi Fair.Vice-Chairman, State Planning Board, Shri Gangu Ram Musafir, welcomed and honoured the Chief Minister and thanked him for dedicating the Tehsil office complex and Tourism reception centre.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the Congress would repeat itself in next assembly elections under the able leadership of Shri Virbhadra Singh.
