Expressing solidarity with the Sikhs settled in Jammu-Kashmir, the Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today said that he would soon call on the Union Home Minister Mr. Rajnath Singh to flag the demands of Sikh community of J&K.An assurance to this regard was given by the Chief Minister to a delegation of Sikhs from J&K, who called on him at his residence this evening.Taking part in deliberations, the Chief Minister said that he would soon meet the Union Home Minister at his office in New Delhi to impress upon him for resolving the long pending issues of community. He said that Sikhs were an integral part of J&K, who were instrumental in upholding the secular character of state. Mr. Badal said that for preserving the nation unity and integrity the need of the hour was to facilitate Sikhs settled in J&K. 

Assuring fulsome support and cooperation to the Sikh delegation, the Chief Minister said that the state government would extend every possible help to the Sikhs from J&K for setting up a technical educational institute in Valley or Jammu. Likewise, Mr. Badal said that he would also urge the SGPC to explore the feasibility for providing quota to Sikh students from J&K. He said that no stone should be left unturned for bailing out the Sikh community in J&K from the current crisis.Meanwhile, the Sikh delegation comprising Mr. Baldev Singh, Mr. Bhopinder Singh, Mr. Gurjeet Singh, Mr. Janak Singh, Mr. Manmeet Singh, Mr. Budha Singh, Mr. Navtej Singh, Mr. Sant Pal Singh, Mr. Inderjit Singh, Mr. Joginder Singh, Mr. Jagjit Singh Sudan, Prof. Roshan Singh, Mr. Mohinder Singh and others apprised the Chief Minister about hardships being faced by them in this hour of turmoil.The Chief Minister was accompanied by Lok Sabha MP Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra, Vice Chancellor Punjabi University, Patiala Prof. Jaspal Singh and his Joint Special Principal Secretary Mr. Kumar Amit.
