Dedicated to the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar, a series of seminar's would be organised on all universities of the state from August 5, 2016 onwards. Under the leadership of Punjab Vidhan Sabha Speaker Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal, a high level meeting in this regard was held in Vidhan Sabha secretariat today.During the meeting, Dr Atwal said that special seminar's would be organised on the philosophy, constitution of India, his approach towards various subjects, work done for the needy and several others by the father of our constitution. He said that Dr BR Ambedkar's contribution towards empowerment of women cannot be matched with any other person. He said that it was only due to his efforts that women have succeeded in all walks of life. Dr Atwal said that Dr BR Ambedkar's statue would be installed in Punjab Vidhan Sabha soon. He said that the work on the statue is going on in Gwalior under the supervision of an expert committee.
Mr Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal, former MLA and co-convenor of committee formed for the successful celebration of Dr BR Ambedkar's 125th birth anniversary informed that the seminars would be based on women empowerment, social justice, parliamentarydemocracy, economic growth from the perspective of Dr BR Ambedkar, Media and Ambedkar, Ambedkar as Educationist, Importance of Constitution, besides several others. He informed that the seminar in Punjabi University Patiala would be held on August 5, 2016, at Panjab University Chandigarh on August 30, 2016, at Lovely Professional University Jalandhar on September 7, 2016, at Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar on September 23, 2016, at Central University Bathinda on October 7, 2016 and at Punjab Technical University Jalandhar on October 21, 2016.
Chief Parliamentary Secretary Mr Som Parkash said that organising seminars dedicated to the 125th birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar is a very good initiative and our young generation would benefit from them in a big way. He informed that the books of Dr Ambedkar would also be translates to Punjabi language. Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission chairman Mr Rajesh Bagha said that prominent educationists, scholars, and many others from across the globe would participate.This meeting was also attended by Dr Jaspal Singh, Vice Chancellor, Punjabi University Patiala, Mr Rakesh Verma, Vice Chancellor, PTU Jalandhar, Dr Jagdeep Singh, Registrar, Central University Bathinda, Mr TK Goyal, DPI, Prof AS Brar, Vice Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University Amritsar, Mr Des Raj Kali, Dr Kamla from PU Chandigarh, Prof Iman Ul Nahar from PU Chandigarh, Mr Anil Kumar, besides others.
