Commuters had to face tremendous hardships on Tuesday as the inhabitants of Kaloosa in North Kashmir's Bandipora district blocked Kaloosa Bridge, connecting Bandipora with Sopore to protest against Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for failing to provide them drinking water from past couple of days.

Inhabitants of Ganai Mohalla, Kaloosa, including women, men and children assembled at the main road and blocked Kaloosa Bridge, connecting Bandipora with Sopore with placing empty buckets on it thereby leaving the commuters to face hardships.Eye-witnesses told NS that hundreds of vehicles were seen stranded as the locals blocked the road against the department.Inhabitants according to KNS correspondent said that they are facing tremendous hardships due to the non-availability of water in their area. “We approached higher ups in this regard but nothing has been done so far,” residents said. They said that they are without drinking water from past five days in the holy month of Ramadhan while authorities hardly bother to redress their sufferings. “Some officials assured that the sufferings will be redressed soon. However, nothing has been done in this regard,” protesters said.“Mu’attiqif’s in Masjids are also facing hardships and we have to take water in buckets for them," they said.Meanwhile, the protesters later appealed authorities to look into their hardships and dispersed peacefully.
