DC Srinagar convenes meet of Road Safety Committee

Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone today convened a meeting of District Road Safety Committee Srinagar to discuss the ways for ensuring to make roads safe for driving.The meeting was attended by SSP  City Traffic Police, Regional Transport Officer Kashmir, Deputy Superintendent of Police Srinagar, Xen, R&B, Construction Division, Xen Beacon, Joint Commissioner(Planning), SMC, General Manager JKSRTC, Chief Education Officer Srinagar besides representatives of NGOs also attended the meet.On the occasion the DC while highlighting the importance of Road Safety in today's world directed GM JKSRTC and RTO Kashmir to  increase the frequency of lady Bus service in the City in view of good response to the initiative.

SSP Traffic, RTO Kashmir and officials of Legal Metrology were directed to ensure that digital meters are installed in Auto Rickhshaws as per decisions already taken in the RTA meeting.The Deputy Commissioner also directed the concerned to identify the accident prone spots, ensuring displaying of Signages at the conspicuous places, besides asked SSP Traffic/Police/RTO Kashmir to ensure that there is no overloading particularly in vehicles carrying school children.During the meeting it was decided that the RTO Kashmir shall ensure fare rates are displayed in every part of Srinagar city so that general public is made aware of it.
