A one-day farmers training programme ‘On Farm School’ was organized today at village Badoie, block Purmandal under National Mission on Agricultural Extension and Technology 2015-16.Deputy Project Director ATMA District Samba, Ashok Gupta briefed the farmers regarding importance of ‘On Farm School’ in the field of extension and advised them to remain punctual and alert during all the training programmes which will be conducted during different stages of strawberry and other fruit crops.District level subject matter specialist (Patho), V.K. Gupta while interacting with the farmers gave technical details regarding strawberry cultivation. He further gave suggestion to the participating farmers not to dump cow dung here and there and adopt scientific and organic based technology in their respective fields for betterment of their production and productivity.
Senior Scientist from Regional Agriculture Research Station Raya (SKAUST-J) Dr. B.V. Singh delivered lecture on various technical operations to be performed in strawberry cultivation from time to time and also laid stress on pest and disease management. Soil Scientist Dr Vijay Kumar briefed the farmers regarding soil health and advised the farmers to get their soil samples analyzed and use the fertilizers and manures as per the soil test report.Horticulture Development Officer Purmandal Satish Kumar briefed the farmers regarding different developmental schemes available with the department for their betterment.Relevant literature was also provided to the farmers during the training programme. On the occasion, VAEA & Horticulture Technicians of the block Purmandal were present and achiever farmer Sham Singh of Badoie was also present.
