Minister for Education, Naeem Akhtar, Saturday conducted surprise inspection of several examination centres in Srinagar and Budgam districts where Class 10th exams are being conducted. The Minister took stock of the arrangements made for the exams by the State Board of School Education and also interacted with the staff deployed for conducting the exams. According to BOSE authorities, 60462 students of Class 10 are writing their exams at 580 centres across the state.During his visit, Mr Akhtar directed the BOSE officials to provide heating arrangements to students, wherever necessary, so that they are able to perform at their optimal levels, while also stressing on conducting fair exams.

The Minister also visited various schools in the twin districts. At Government Higher Secondary School, Gund Hassi, Srinagar, the Minister directed the staff to ensure cent percent attendance of the students before the winter vacations are announced so that they don't miss out on the lessons.Schools are not monasteries. If students don't turn up in classes, their parents should be informed. Their behavior should be monitored and prompt action should be taken against the absentees," he said. The Minister also visited Soibugh village where he inspected the arrangements for exams at a private school. A delegation of locals urged the Minister to develop roads in the village which has suffered neglect under successive governments. The Minister assured the delegation that their concerns will be taken care of and issued on-spot directions for release of timber to the village so that the work on under-construction houses is completed before the snowfall.
