Stressing on the need for public participation in the development of the state, Minister for Consumer Affairs & Public Distribution and Tribal Affairs Chowdhary Zulfkar Ali said that the government is committed to provide basic amenities to the people and appealed the common masses to help the Government in keeping the state clean, green and healthy.The Minister said this while chairing a meeting with the officers of the Jammu Development Authority and other allied departments to review the status of the ongoing developmental works being carried out by the government departments in Jammu to elevate the living standards of the people of this city.The Minister directed the officers to ensure uninterrupted power supply, regular water supply and healthier environment in all the colonies of the city and said that JDA colony in Roop Nagar should be taken up as a pilot project by improving the amenities.

The Minister directed the officers of JDA and Floriculture Department to set up public parks in the city and install street lights in every street of the city. He asked the officers of Motor vehicles Department to ensure proper public transport and instructed the representatives of Jammu Municipal Corporation to install garbage collection bins in the city besides ensuring proper disposal of waste materials.The meeting was attended by Vice Chairman JDA Mubarak Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Jammu Rifat Kohli, Director Floriculture Department Jammu Ashok Gupta, Director Social Welfare Department Jammu M S Choudhary, Regional Transport Officer Ashwani Khajuria, Joint Director CA&PD Department Mansoor Aslam and other officers of the concerned departments.
