Rejecting the recent statement of Indian representative at the UN that J&K is an integral part of India because of the so called elections held here, Hurriyat (M) chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq said that these so called election have no bearing on the disputed nature of the state as is clearly stated by the UN resolutions on the Kashmir dispute. These resolutions clearly state that elections held for administrative purposes are in no way an alternative to the right of self determination of the people of J&K. So India's effort   to mislead the world community and contest the disputed status would not work.

While addressing before Friday congregation prayers at historic Jamia Masjid, Hurriyat (M) chairman stated that Hurriyat has time and again reiterated that Kashmir dispute can be solved either by implementing UN resolutions or through tripartite dialogue involving all the three stakeholders  India, Pakistan and the main party, the people of Kashmir.

Mirwaiz said the issue is as alive today as it was in 1947. He stated that Kashmiris were the primary party to the dispute and no process for its resolution will bear fruit without their inclusion.  He reiterated that come what may Hurriyat will continue  to strive for the resolution of the dispute  till it is not resolved according to the wishes and aspirations of Kashmiris.Castigating the government for miserably failing to provide relief and rehabilitation to the flood victims of September 2014, Hurriyat (M) chairman stated that in contrast to that fellow Kashmiris exhibited exemplary courage and comradeship helping each other to extricate themselves from such a disaster. He said that since  floods  repeated pledges were made by the central and state Government to Kashmiri people that relief packages worth  crores  would be  allotted  for their  rehabilitation  and rebuilding of infrastructure ,  which  actually turned out be a mere hoax . On the other hand Mirwaiz said that sadly the aid packages announced by the OIC, UN and other international organization were embargoed by the Indian state. He said the Kashmiris were suffering immensely on account of flood compensation despite a year having passed since the disaster struck.Hurriyat (M) chairman stated that Hurriyat had extended full support to the strike call given by the Kashmir traders on September 7.
