Criticizing government for not doing much to reviving tourism sector in Kashmir, former minister and chairman Democratic Party Nationalist (DPN) Ghulam Hassan Mir has said the sordid situation presented by the tourist resorts in Valley particularly the Dal Lake belie the tall claims made by the authorities regarding tourism promotion.‘The tourism resorts which are the main attraction for tourists visiting Valley present a messy picture. Nothing is being done to properly maintain the tourist spots, which has adversely affected the tourism sector and tourist arrivals,” Mir said in a statement issued to KNS.“Condition of Dal Lake, the main attraction of tourist in Srinagar city, presents a dirty picture. It should be cleaned the way government in previous years was going. But nothing is being done,” he added.Mir urged government to stop making hallow claims about tourism promotions and start doing something tangible on ground. “Government should properly maintain tourist spots and ensure proper cleanliness of them, particularly of the Dal Lake,” he said.
