Hailing decision of the Union Government to set up AIIMS in both Jammu and Kashmir regions, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today said that this historic decision of the Centre would help in providing better and advanced health facilities to the people of the whole State. Party observed that there is a need to expedite the process of identifying land in the both the regions so as to start construction of the premier health institutions both in Jammu and Kashmir respectively as early as possible.In a joint statement issued here today, senior leaders of the PDP welcomed announcement made by Union Health Minister J P Nadda on Thursday that AIIMS-like institutions would be set up in both the regions of the state and similar facilities would be provided in both the regions.

“We hail and welcome this historic announcement. The needs of the state's two distinct regions have been considered favourably by the Centre,”, PDP leaders said and added that Union Government has addressed wishes and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir by announcing setting up of premier health institutions in both the regions of the  State.Party leaders observed that this decision was historic in the sense that inhabitants of Jammu and Kashmir regions would be provided advanced health facilities at their door steps. They said that PDP-BJP government under the leadership of Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed is committed to provide better healthcare facilities for all the regions of the State.PDP leaders further said that the demand for setting up AIIMs in Jammu province was full endorsed by the state government of J&K because there is need of such premier health institutions in both provinces due to topography of the State.
