Punjab To Tackle Problem Of Uranium In Water On Top Priority-Sukhbir

Sukhbir Singh Badal Deputy Chief Minister and President SAD today said that Punjab government would tackle the problem of Uranium in the ground water on top priority and had already sought technical input from Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) to tackle this Punjab specific problem. Addressing the people after paying glorious tribute to S. Kartar Singh Dhindsa elder brother of Member Parliament  Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa and uncle of Punjab Finance Minister  Parminder Singh Dhindsa at his bhog ceremony held at village Ubhawal, the Deputy Chief Minister said that Punjab had already fought battle against insurgency and suffered because of Indo-Pak invasions and now the state has to launch a war against Uranium pollution in water which was only specific to Punjab. He said that Chief Minister  Parkash Singh Badal had already requested Prime Minister  Manmohan Singh to allocate special budget to tackle the problem of Uranium as it has been done in the case of Arsenic and Fluoride contamination. He said the BARC team was trying to locate the source of Uranium contamination and Punjab government was taking all possible measures to provide RO system in Uranium affected areas.  Badal said that Union government has already requested to allocate liberal grants for Punjab water supply system to set up additional ROs till the permanent solution for Uranium contamination was found.Thanking the people of Punjab for returning SAD-BJP government to the State to continue the development agenda,  Badal expressed confidence that with the blessings of people of the state BJP candidate in Dasuya bye-election, Mrs. Sukhjit Kaur Sahi would win the bye-election with more than 25,000 votes. Badal said that the National Democratic Alliance would meet soon to decide the course of action on Vice-Presidential poll.Paying rich tribute to S. Kartar Singh Dhindsa,  Bikram Singh Majithia YAD President and Revenue, Public Relations Minister recalled the contribution of Dhindsa family in strengthening the Shiromani Akali Dal.Prominent amongst others present on the occasion included  Vijay Inder Singla, Member Parliament,  Surjit Singh Rakhra, Cabinet Minister,  Balvir Singh Rajewal, President BKU Rajewal, Prof. Prem Singh Chandumajra,  Mahesh Inder Singh Grewal, Jathedar Tota Singh, MLA,  Parkash Chand Garg,  Balbir Singh Ghunas, Mrs. Farzana Alam, all CPS and  Iqbal Singh Jhunda, Jathedar Avtar Singh, President SGPC, and Jathedar Balwant Singh Nandgarh.
