Department of Agriculture organized an awareness camp for farmers at village Berru, under the chairmanship of Chief Agriculture Officer Doda, here. A large number of Progressive farmers and vegetable growers from Berru and Malnai villages participated in the awareness camp. The farmers were made aware about latest techniques of vegetable cultivation like seed treatment, nursery raising and preparation of field, disease and pest management and fertilizer application. The farmers were also educated about Beekeeping, Mushroom cultivation, organic farming and diversified farming by the experts of the department and scientists from KVK Bhadarwah.

Later a joint team of officers of the department of Agriculture and scientists of KVK Bhadarwah headed by the Chief Agriculture Officer Doda inspected the fields to ascertain the causes and extent of damages to the vegetable crops in the area. It was ascertained that excessive moisture, high humidity, high temperature and non-staking of plants especially in tomato crop was the cause behind the damages. It was unfortunate that in spite of following the recommended spray schedule by the farmers no satisfactory results could be achieved because of washing away of the sprayed material due to daily rain showers. The Chief Agriculture Officer directed the field staff concerned to assess the losses and prepare a damage report which will be submitted shortly to the higher authorities for appropriate action.
