Congress party Wednesday said that it will extend unconditional support to People’s Democratic Party, if it part ways with the Bhartiya Janata Party. “Common people have been showing deep resentment against the present government in the State. People are not happy with the performance of the government. They feel betrayed. They voted for a reason and they are not getting the desire results,” State Congress President Ghulam Ahmed Mir told CNS on the side lines of Eid-Milan party at Nigeen Club Srinagar. He said that people had been expecting a lot from the present government especially from the PDP, but it is BJP that is managing the show, but not in the interest of people. “This government has failed to help flood hit victims,” he said.

Responding to a question, Mir said that if government ceases to exist and PDP will part ways with BJP, Congress party will surely support PDP in government formation,” Mir said that Congress party is active and has been trying its best to win the hearts of the common voters. He admitted that it was the poor performance of the Congress leaders in State especially in Jammu, that enabled BJP to win as many seats as possible in last year’s Assembly elections. “The ‘power’ had corrupted some of the Congress leaders absolutely and they failed to do good for the people, as a result Congress suffered heavily. Our leaders are not going to repeat the same mistakes and we have decided to put our best to work in the interest of common people,” he said. (CNS)
