State receives foodgrain quota under NFSA

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister  G.S. Bali said that Centre Government had allocated 6395 metric tonne rice and 9101 metric tonne wheat for the State under National Food Security Act, (NFSA) 2013 for the month of October, 2013 which had been received by the State and further sent to the fair price shops to be made available at Rs. three per kg and Rs. two per kg respectively. He appealed to the beneficiaries to get these foodgrain from the fair price shops.Food and Civil Supplies Minister said that under National Food Security Act all  other essential food items would also be made available to the beneficiaries who were also getting the benefit under different schemes. He said that 20 kg wheat and 15 kg rice per month would be provided to the beneficiaries of Antodaya Ann Yojna as it was being provided earlier. He said that State Government had decided to continue subsidized foodgrains  to all those beneficiaries who would not be covered under National Food Security Act as were being provided earlier. These beneficiaries would be provided 18 kg flour at Rs. 8.50 per kg and 9 kg rice at Rs. 10 per kg per month. He said that efforts were being made to provide foodgrains to the consumers on fixed time schedule under the NFSA besides increasing the storage capacity in the State. Shri Bali said that State Government was providing three pulses, two edible oil and iodized salt to all the ration card holders through fair price shops in the State. He said that Rs. 175 crore were being spent on the scheme during this year. He said that 150 gram additional sugar quota per head would be provided to all the ration card holders on the occasion of Diwali.
