Government has agreed in principle extension of the timeline beyond two years for establishing industrial units (comprehensive policy for allotment and transfer of industrial land) for a period of six months subject to the condition that the allottee is serious and interested to establish the industrial unit on allotted land.This decision was taken in a meeting chaired by the Minister for Industries and Commerce Chander Parkash Ganga held here today.

The meeting was attended by Financial Commissioner Industrial and Commerce Mr. Khursheed Ahmad Ganai, Managing Director SIDCO Syed Kifayat Rizvi, Managing Director SICOP Mr. Tikoo, Director Industries Kashmir Mr. Nazim Khan, President Kashmir Federation of Industries Mr. Mohammad Ashraf, President Federation of Industries Jammu Mr. Rajesh Jain, President Samba Industrial Association Mr. Vijay Aggarwal, President Kathua Industrial Association Mr. Ajeet Bawa, President Bari Brahmana Industrial Association Mr. Lalit Mahajan, General Secretary, Gangyal Industrial Association and other officers of Industrial and Commerce department and its allied wings.

It was also decided in the meeting that a Grievance Cell will be constituted in the Industries Department to look and ascertain the problems and difficulties including power supply and road connectivity being faced by the entrepreneurs in establishing their units.Managing Director SIDCO briefed the meeting about the industrial estates. It was given out in the meeting that about 2500 kanals of land have already been allotted to various persons for establishing industrial units. Association of Industrialists also put-forth their demands and the Minister gave them a patient hearing and assured them their genuine demands would be looked into.The Minister said the Government is committed for promotion and development of industries in the State in a big way. He said several initiatives are being taken in this regard adding that a new Industrial Policy is in the pipeline. He assured the Association Members that suggestions given by them will be incorporated in the proposed new industrial policy.The Minister asked the entrepreneurs to ensure that the land allotted to them is utilized for establishment of industrial units and not for selling purposes. He said trading and malpractices will not be tolerated and warned them any laxity in this regard will be dealt with seriously.
