DDC distributes dairy equipment among farmers

District Development Commissioner, Udhampur, Dr. Shahid Iqbal Choudhary distributed dairy equipment and Mastitis Kits free of cost among 20 farmers from four blocks of the district under the National Mission for Protein Supplement (NMPS) -Scheme III in a function  organized by Animal Husbandry Department  here today.While speaking on the occasion, the DDC stressed upon the officers of the Department to take concrete measures for extending the activities of dairy farming to enhance the milk production in the district. He also stressed upon the officers to organize awareness camps in the rural areas to educate the people about the different schemes of the department.

Meanwhile, the DDC asked the beneficiaries to use of the material provided to them by the Department judiciously besides calling upon the farmers to come forward to avail benefits of such schemes. Joint Director Planning, Rakesh Jamwal also spoke on the occasion and exhorted the farmers to avail maximum benefits from the various centrally sponsored schemes available for them.During the programme, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Udhampur, Dr. K.L Gupta deliberated upon the basic aims and objectives of this scheme.  He said that equipment and utensils are provided to promote dairy farming in a hygienic way and also help in early detection of mastitis which is known to be a very complex disease. Among others, the Veterinary Assistant Surgeons and other staff of the Animal Husbandry Department were present on the occasion.
