Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today sought the kind intervention of the Union Railways Minister Mr. Suresh Prabhu for directing the Ministry to halt Sarai Rohilla-Ganganagar Express and Sri Ganganagar-Nanded Express trains at Malout Railway station in Sri Muktsar Sahib district. In a letter to Mr. Suresh Prabhu, the Chief Minister apprised him that Malout was a very flourishing town from where a number of businessmen and traders travel daily to Delhi. Likewise, he said that Sri Nanded Sahib was one of the important pilgrim centre of the Sikhs and a large number of devotees pay obeisance at this sacred place every year. Seeking the kind intervention of the Union Railways Minister for stopping both Sarai Rohilla-Ganganagar Express and Sri Ganganagar-Nanded Express trains at Malout Railway station in Sri Muktsar Sahib district, Mr. Badal said that it would facilitate the passengers of the south western Punjab to travel to Delhi besides paying obeisance at Sri Nanded Sahib. The Chief Minister impressed upon Mr. Suresh Prabhu to immediately direct the Railways department to ensure the stoppage of both these trains at Malout Railway station thereby saving the time, money and energy of the people from the region. It may be recalled that Mr. Badal had also urged the Union Railway Minister to resolve this issue on priority through his telephonic conversation with the latter couple of days back.
