Punjab SC Commission takes serious note of delay in deliver of text books to students

Directs Education and Welfare department to ensure delivery of books within 7 days

The Punjab State Commission for Scheduled Castes today pulled up the officers of Education and Welfare Departments for delay in delivery of text books to students belonging to SC/BC categories besides directing to ensure the delivery within 7 days. The commission has also asked the departments to furnish compliance report on June 9 after providing the books to students.  While issuing directions in this regard, Chairman of Commission Mr. Rajesh Bagha said that it has come to his notice that SC/BC students in various schools of the state did not get the text books despite starting of academic session a month ago. He said that non delivery of books to these students directly affects their studies. Mr. Bagha asked the officers of Education and Welfare departments present in the meeting to ensure the availability and delivery of books to the remaining students at the earliest.The Chairman also reviewed the status of pending books and their availability from the officers concerned. Joint Secretary of Punjab School Education Board J.R. Mehrookh assured the Chairman that the remaining books including Mathematics, Punjabi, Supplementary Reader English and Grammar, will be supplied shortly.Mr. Bagha asked the officers of both departments to furnish detailed compliance report on June 9.
