Minister of State for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Nazir Ahmad Gurezi today laid foundation stone of 30- bedded Hospital at Mastan, Gurez. The hospital will be constructed on modern lines at an estimated cost of Rs 8.5 crore equipped with latest technology.Earlier, the Minister inaugurated heating system at Sub-District Hospital Dawar costing Rs.1 crore. He also handed over six ambulances to health department for Gurez area. These ambulances will be provided to Kanzalwon, Chaurwon, Bagtore, Sheikhpora, Badugam and Baduab Primary Health Centres of Gurez and Tulail.

Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that the Government under the dynamic leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed to provide better healthcare facilities to the people of the State especially living in remote and hilly areas at their door steps. He said several initiatives have been taken to upgrade the basic infrastructure of all health institutions of the State, adding that sufficient funds have been earmarked under health sector during the current year with the aim to make ensure that the health facilities extended to the people on ground.

The Minister said that establishment of hospital at Mastan was a long pending demand which full-filled today, adding that the Government is keen to extend adequate medicare facilities to every nook and corner of Gurez Tehsil.Referring to the developmental works under execution in Gurez Tehsil, the Minister said that the construction work on various micro and macro developmental projects under different sectors is apace and on completion of these projects it will change the socio-economic profile of the people of the area.
