The National Scheduled Castes Commission (NSCC) has taken a very serious view of Punjab Government's non seriousness about the implementation of the various state schemes and plan's meant for the welfare of the state scheduled castes and the commission has decided to summon the state government soon with a formal action taken report about the same.

This was revealed by the commission's chairman Dr. Panna Lal Punia to a delegation of the National Scheduled Castes Alliance (NSCA) led by its National President, Paramjit Singh Kainth during a meeting held at Dr. Punia's official residence in New Delhi.Dr. Punia assured the delegation of NSCA that the commission is going to ask the state government particularly it's chief secretary to show some kind of seriousness about the state scheduled castes as they are having a population of over 35 per cent in the state's total population.

He also told that how strange are the things going on in Punjab as the government working there is trying to play with the sentiments of the weaker sections and deprived castes living there though they are contributing so much of population. While giving details of the meeting the National President of NSCA, Paramjit Singh Kainth further told that Dr, Punia on behalf of the chairman of the National Scheduled Castes Commission is very much serious about the plight of the scheduled castes of Punjab and because of that he is taking up the matter seriously so that the state scheduled castes will get the actual benefits of the welfare schemes and plans drafted for their welfare.Kainth however clarified that in actual a petition about this matter has been filed by an NGO, The Chamar Mahan Sabha a few months back in the petition the chamar mahan sabha has raised the plight of the state scheduled castes and their pathetic condition due to the anti-scheduled castes stance taken by the state president. He said that though the commission had summoned the state government than and pulled the state government but the state government again adopted a negative and ignorant attitude towards this and just trying to hush up the complaint by lingering it. Kainth said that keeping in view this attitude of the state government now the National Scheduled Castes Alliance has taken this issue in it's hands and approached the National Scheduled Castes Commission to get relief for the state's Scheduled Castes.

He revealed that during the meeting the chairman of the National Scheduled Castes Commission, Dr. P.L. Punia shown seriousness over it as the state government has failed to come forward with a report what steps it has taken over the earlier complaint made by The Chamar Mahan Sabha in which it was raised that the state government had failed to spend Rs. 4,039 Crore sanctioned under various welfare schemes drafted for the upliftment of the state scheduled castes. Besides the state government also failed to even implement the sub plan meant for the welfare of the state scheduled castes even as the state government had allocated the funds for the same in its budget for the year 2012-2013.

He even claimed that Dr. Punia has also assured the delegation that if the state government failed to come forward with action taken report than the Commission will initiate the Stern action against the erring state officials as the Commission is not going to allow perting of such funds or lapsing of these funds and it only want utilization of this money for the welfare of the state scheduled castes.Kainth said that the National Scheduled Castes Alliance (NSCA) will keep an eye over the state government's response to the Commission over the demands being raised by it and if the state government failed to utilize these funds for state scheduled castes and also go forward with it's anti-scheduled castes policy than NSCA will launch an agitation in the state over all these issues.
