J&K State Committee of CPI (M), while reacting to the latest statement of PDP spokesperson, Nayeem Akhter regarding the compulsions for PDP to forge an alliance with BJP Monday alleged that  it was a mere eyewash and an effort to mislead and hoodwink the people of the state Referring to the statement published in the Greater Kashmir on Monday, under the headline “Ice breaking?” the senior State CPI (M) leader Ghulam Nabi Malik expressed surprise whether the PDP really believes that the BJP Govt, shall resolve the J&K related  issues,  identified by it, only if it allies with the BJP for the formation of the new  government. “Is it necessary to please and appease the party in power at the centre for the resolution of genuine problems faced by any state of India, including J&K? Does it mean, obedience to the ruling party at the centre is compulsory for addressing the political issues faced by the state and for its reconstruction and development, the party leader asserted?” he asked in a statement to KNS.

He said  by floating the idea that ‘allegiance and obedience’ to BJP can help in the resolution of the state’s genuine issues, ”does Nayeem Akhter suggest that regional parties have no role in the people friendly governance and only those parties can resolve the issues of the states who are in  power at the centre.”“Does it also mean that the regional parties in states are irrelevant?  If that is the case, wasn’t it better to vote directly for that party and leave out the regional parties which could never aspire to capture power at the centre.  Why did PDP fight elections on anti BJP plank and asserted that the policies of the BJP were against the aspirations of the Kashmiris. If yesterday BJP was against the aspirations of the Kashmiris, how could it be friendly today?” Malik asked.

“PDP should not forget that in 2002 when it was an ally of Congress,  the centre was ruled by the BJP-led NDA. Why did PDP at that time enter into alliance with Congress which was not in power at the centre?  Where lays the standard? PDP, time and again boasts of its “good governance and achievements” when it ruled the state in alliance with the Congress and the BJP was at the helm at the centre.  How was it possible,” the CPI (M) leader asked?“It is irrational when PDP’s spokesperson says  that his party “won’t make any compromise with the interests of the people of the state at any cost” because by surrendering to BJP, the PDP is already ignoring  the aspirations of the masses and is, in fact, preparing them  for a great shock.  The party should, however, know that it is 21st century and the people are mature enough that they cannot be taken for a ride or mesmerized by motivated alibies and clever statements,” he added.
