With a view to expedite the ongoing development projects,  Local Bodies Minister Anil Joshi today handed over grants to the tune of Rs. 75 crore to 131 local bodies of Punjab including 5 municipal corporations and 126 municipal councils and nagar panchayats to witness holistic development in the state.In a function organised here at Punjab Bhawan, Mr. Joshi gave drafts of grants to Chief Parliamentary Secretaries, MLAs, Commissioners of Municipal Corporations, Executive Officers of Nagar Panchayats and Councils.  These grants were given in the presence of CPSs namely Mr. Som Parkash, Mr. N.K. Sharma, Mr. Des Raj Dhugga and Mr. Amarpal Singh Bonni Ajnala and Mrs. Nisara Khatoon Farzana Aalam. 

In his address Joshi said in first phase under Swach Bharat Abhiyan launched by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi Rs. 3.5 crore has been given to 4 municipal corporations. He said grants to the tune of Rs. 71.50 crore has been awarded to 131 local bodies in the state to put the stalled development projects on fast track. He said this financial assistance to all cities and towns would witness all round development in the state. He said in this phase a minimum Rs. 25 lakh and maximum Rs. 3.5 crore to municipal corporations.     

Joshi informed that Hoshiarpur, Pathankot, Moga and Bathinda Municipal Corporation has got Rs. 3.5 crore including Rs. 1 crore each to Hoshiarpur, Moga and Pathankot while Rs. 50 lakh to Bathinda. He said Hoshiarpur has got a total Rs. 1.5 crore under Swach Bharat abhiyan  and development projects while Pathankot Rs. 3.5 crore, Bathinda Rs. 1 crore and Moga 1.60 crore.Giving details of cities received more than Rs. 1 crore, Mr. Joshi said including Fatehgarh Churian, Ferozepur got Rs. 1.5 crore and Phillaur, Kapurthala, Nawa Shahar, Taran Tarn, Gurdaspur, Batala, Jagraon, Samana, Sangrur, Sunam, Malerkotla, Barnala, Kharar, Dera Bassi, Zirakpur, Mansa, Sardulgarh, Mukatsar, Malout, Gidderbaha, Guruharsahai, Fazilka, Abohar and kotakpura got Rs.1 crore.
