Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi Friday denied that he was warned by his party JD-U over his controversial remarks in the past few days."I was not warned by the party leadership nor given any ultimatum," Manjhi told mediapersons here, a day after a senior party leader said the party had asked him to avoid making such comments.JD-U general secretary K.C. Tyagi Thursday said the party has given an ultimatum to Manjhi over his controversial remarks."We have requested Manjhi to avoid making any controversial statement that harms the party image and society," Tyagi said.

Tyagi, JD-U Rajya Sabha MP and considered close to former chief minister Nitish Kumar, has made it clear that the JD-U leadership has given a last chance to Manjhi over such comments. After Tyagi's comment, some JD-U leaders including ministers and legislators have openly come out in support of Manjhi and defended his remarks.A recent remark that the upper caste people were foreigners and scheduled caste and scheduled tribe people were indigenous had got the party in trouble as several of its legislators, belonging to the upper castes, demanded his removal.
