A massive public rally was organised to welcome Bharatiya Janata Party Punjab President Sardar Kewal Singh Dhillon on his arrival in his home district, Barnala. Thousands of BJP leaders and workers attended the event in a grand show of strength.
On the occasion, BJP State President Kewal Singh Dhillon first congratulated newly appointed Barnala District President Narendra Garg 'Neeta' and expressed confidence that he would work tirelessly while carrying every party worker along, ensuring that all three Assembly seats in Barnala district are won by the Bharatiya Janata Party in the upcoming elections.
Expressing his emotional bond with the people of Barnala, Dhillon said that Barnala is his own city and its people are his family, who elected him as MLA twice. He said that the responsibility entrusted to him by the BJP high command to lead the party in Punjab is, in fact, a crown placed on the heads of the people of Barnala.
"We will honour this trust by forming a BJP government in Punjab in 2027," he said. Dhillon said that it was under his leadership that Barnala was transformed from a small tehsil into a district through the establishment of the DC Complex, construction of overbridges, underbridges, a sewage treatment plant, and a network of roads.
He added that even today, the Modi-led Central Government continues to provide funds for road development in the city. Taking a swipe at the Aam Aadmi Party government, he said that instead of delivering new development, the "broom-wielders" are merely laying foundation stones on projects already created by the BJP and claiming false credit.
Questioning the AAP government's development claims, Dhillon asked those announcing a new college in Dhanaula to first explain the status of the 16 medical colleges they had earlier promised. He pointed out that four years have passed since the announcement of the Nursing College at Thikriwala.
The foundation stone laid at Mastuana Sahib has become overgrown with paddy, and even the land has reportedly been taken back by the Gurdwara Committee. Dhillon alleged that the Multi-Speciality Hospital project at Handiaya, which had been brought by the BJP, was deliberately stalled.
He assured the gathering that once the BJP forms the government, construction of the hospital would be among its first priorities. He also said that the Critical Care Unit (Trauma Centre) being developed at the Barnala Civil Hospital is being built entirely with financial assistance worth crores of rupees from the Central Government.
Expressing concern over the condition of Punjab, Dhillon said that the Aam Aadmi Party had deceived the people in the name of "change." He alleged that gangsterism, robberies, mounting debt, and grenade attacks ranging from police stations to BJP offices have severely damaged the state's law-and-order situation.
He further alleged that sanitation workers, electricity employees, DC office staff, PRTC employees, and health workers demanding their legitimate rights are being subjected to lathi-charge. He said that despite the government's claims of respecting women, women are facing violence under its rule.
Due to the ongoing strike by sanitation workers, cities have turned into garbage dumps, while even basic facilities like X-ray services are unavailable in government hospitals. "Punjab has been reduced to a 'Dharna-land', while the Congress remains busy fighting for its own leadership," he remarked.
Highlighting the achievements of the Central Government, Dhillon said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Centre has provided ₹16 lakh crore for the development of Punjab. These include investments in airports, railway infrastructure, the stoppage of the Vande Bharat Express at Barnala, Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers, and substantial subsidies on urea fertiliser.
Concluding his address, Kewal Singh Dhillon recalled the vision of Sher-e-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh's "Sarkar-e-Khalsa" and urged all BJP leaders and workers to begin working with full dedication for the 2027 Assembly elections, saying that time is short.
He asserted that the formation of a BJP government in Punjab in 2027 is inevitable. On the occasion, representatives of various religious, social, business and other organisations from Barnala also honoured Kewal Singh Dhillon.
