Deputy Commissioner Reasi Kumar Abhishek today chaired a meeting to review implementation of the directions issued by the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India regarding removal of unauthorised encroachments from National Highways.
The Deputy Commissioner directed to conduct a comprehensive survey of National Highway stretches within their respective jurisdictions, identify all unauthorised encroachments and initiate removal in accordance with prescribed legal procedures.
The Revenue Department, NHAI, PWD and other agencies concerned were instructed to work in close coordination for prompt implementation. The DC emphasised strict compliance with the Hon'ble Supreme Court's directions to ensure road safety, maintain the Right of Way (ROW) along National Highways and prevent unauthorised encroachments that pose risks to commuters.
Among those present were Additional Deputy Commissioner Rakesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Revenue Reasi, Sub-Divisional Magistrates of Katra, Mahore and Dharmari, Project Director NHAI Udhampur, representatives of 57/58/110 RCC GREF, Executive Engineers of PWD (R&B) and Tehsildars.
