Telangana Chief Minister, Revanth Reddy, on Tuesday requested Union Minister for Road Transport, Nitin Gadkari, to secure Union Cabinet approval to commence work on the northern section of the Regional Ring Road (RRR), noting that 95 per cent of the land acquisition has already been completed.

Chief Minister Reddy met Union Minister Gadkari at his residence in Delhi and also urged him to grant the necessary approvals for the Southern Section of the RRR. CM Reddy stated that if work on both sections of the RRR begins simultaneously, construction would be completed faster and costs reduced.

CM Reddy further appealed to Union Minister Gadkari to immediately grant approvals for the Greenfield Highway connecting Hyderabad to Andhra Pradesh’s capital Amaravati, a project mandated by the Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act. CM Reddy stated that sanctioning a 12-lane highway from Bharat Future City to Bandar Port via Amaravati would reduce the travel distance between Hyderabad and Vijayawada by 100 kilometers.

He explained that this would expedite freight transport between Hyderabad and Bandar Port. The Telangana CM requested Union Minister Gadkari to facilitate forest department clearances for the Mannanur-Srisailam elevated corridor and noted that the Nallamala Sanctuary, Srisailam Temple, and Srisailam reservoirs fall within the scope of this corridor.

CM Reddy also appealed to Gadkari to sanction a six-lane alternative highway from Mancherial to Hyderabad, serving as an alternative to the existing Rajiv Highway. He assured that the Telangana government would undertake the necessary land acquisition for this project, adding that the new highway would create fresh opportunities for agriculture and business.

During the meeting with Union Minister for Civil Aviation Ram Mohan Naidu, CM Reddy urged him to ensure that the upcoming airports at Warangal (Mamnoor) and Adilabad are constructed as per international standards. CM Reddy highlighted the strategic and commercial advantages offered by the Warangal and Adilabad airport locations.

The Telangana CM noted that Warangal is a key city, well-connected by rail and road networks and home to the Kakatiya Mega Textile Park, the Kazipet Coach Factory, and other industries. He informed the Union Minister of plans to further develop Warangal industrially in the near future.

CM Reddy stated that Warangal would serve as a central hub for the districts of the erstwhile Adilabad, Karimnagar, Warangal, and Khammam regions, as well as Nalgonda, in North Telangana and requested the establishment of Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul, air cargo, and hangar facilities at the Warangal airport.
