Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Tuesday met Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu in New Delhi and sought cooperation to complete Warangal and Adilabad airports by June 2, 2028. The Chief Minister told media persons after the meeting that they discussed issues relating to the two upcoming airports.

He stated that the Union Minister was extending his cooperation for the construction of these two airports. “We have set a target to complete the work on these two airports and inaugurate them by June 2, 2028,” said the Chief Minister. He noted that Telangana, which accounts for 2.50 per cent of the country's population, contributes 5 per cent to the national GDP.

The Chief Minister stated that airports meeting international standards are essential for the state's further development. He said Kakatiya culture will be given prominence in the design of the Warangal airport. “We are holding the necessary discussions to secure cooperation from the Central government.

A spirit of cooperation between the Central and state governments will continue, with development as the primary goal,” he said. Ram Mohan Naidu told media persons that Revanth Reddy clearly mentioned that the Warangal airport would be completed by June 2, 2028, which is Telangana's formation day.

He said if necessary, extra efforts would be put in to achieve the target. He announced that the work on the airport would begin in three weeks. According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the two leaders discussed design and proposed facilities at both upcoming airports.

Ram Mohan Naidu had said in April that the foundation stone for the airport at Mamnoor in Warangal would be laid in three months. The state government has already allotted the land for building the airport. After a meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Ram Mohan Naidu, and Union Minister for Coal and Mines G. Kishan Reddy, he announced that an airport for defence will be built in Adilabad, which will have an enclave for civil operations.

While the defence already has an airstrip with 360 acres in Adilabad, the Civil Aviation Ministry asked the state government to acquire another 450 acres for building the airport. The proposed airport will be a major facility with a runway capable of handling Airbus A320 aircraft.
