Punjab Health & Family Welfare and Medical Education & Research Minister Dr. Balbir Singh today inaugurated the Rural Health Training Centre (RHTC) established at Village Saneta under the Department of Community Medicine, Dr. B.R. Ambedkar State Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS), Mohali. On the occasion, he also laid the foundation stone of the proposed hostel for medical interns and the boundary wall.

The programme commenced with an Ardas performed by the Granthi Sahib of Gurdwara Sahib, Village Saneta. Addressing the gathering, Dr. Balbir Singh said that, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is continuously strengthening healthcare infrastructure in rural areas.

He appreciated AIMS Mohali for establishing this modern healthcare facility, which will not only provide quality medical services to the rural population but also offer community-based training to medical students. The Health Minister urged residents of the surrounding villages to avail the specialised healthcare services being provided at the Rural Health Training Centre.

Stressing the importance of preventive healthcare, he appealed to people, particularly those aged 40 years and above, to undergo regular health check-ups and necessary diagnostic tests to ensure the early detection and timely treatment of diseases. Dr. Balbir Singh further said that the Bhagwant Singh Mann Government has fulfilled every promise made to the people of Punjab.

He stated that the government's commitment regarding financial assistance to women has also been fulfilled, making it the first government in the state to honour all its major election promises. He reiterated that the sole objective of the government is to serve the people with honesty and dedication.

He informed that OPD, laboratory, digital X-ray, immunisation and Anti-Rabies vaccination services have already commenced at the Rural Health Training Centre. Indoor services, including a 10-bedded ward and a labour room, will soon become operational, further strengthening healthcare facilities for the rural population.

He further said that the proposed hostel will provide round-the-clock residential accommodation for interns and medical officers, ensuring uninterrupted inpatient, emergency and maternal healthcare services in the area. A Mega Multi-Specialty Health Camp was also organised on the occasion, where specialist consultations in Medicine, Surgery, Orthopaedics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics and Ophthalmology were provided.

Free laboratory investigations and medicines were also made available to the local residents.
