Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said the state government is leaving "no stone unturned" in its flood response, asserting that ministers and MLAs have been deployed across the affected districts to oversee rescue, relief and rehabilitation efforts.
In a series of posts on X, the Chief Minister said he was personally monitoring the evolving flood situation while members of his Cabinet were on the ground to ensure that relief operations and protection measures were carried out without delay.
"We are leaving no stone unturned in our flood response. While I continue to monitor the situation closely, my Cabinet colleagues are on the ground overseeing relief efforts, protection measures and ensuring timely assistance," Sarma said.
Highlighting the government's outreach in the worst-hit districts, the Chief Minister said flood-affected farmers in Dhemaji were receiving continuous support from the administration. "We are with the flood-affected farmers of Dhemaji, continuously monitoring the situation.
Cabinet colleagues and MLAs are present in various flood-affected areas, relentlessly continuing efforts to ensure rescue, relief, security measures and immediate assistance so that every affected family receives aid promptly," he added.
Sarma also shared updates from ministers visiting inundated areas. State Minister Susanta Borgohain inspected flood-hit localities along the Chakrang River in Gohpur, where he reviewed the condition of embankments, interacted with local residents and assessed the relief measures being undertaken by the district administration.
Meanwhile, Minister Bhubon Pegu visited the severely affected Arun Chapori area in Dhemaji district to assess the ground situation. According to the Chief Minister, the minister reviewed the damage caused by the floods, interacted with affected families and directed officials to expedite relief distribution and restoration work.
The Chief Minister reiterated that the state government would continue to monitor the situation round the clock and ensure that rescue operations, relief distribution and rehabilitation measures reached every flood-affected family.
Several districts in upper Assam have witnessed flooding following heavy rainfall, with state agencies, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and district administrations continuing rescue and relief operations.
