District Development Commissioner Rajouri Abhishek Sharma today chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of developmental works executed by the Public Works Department R&B. The meeting focussed on expediting ongoing projects, ensuring quality execution and addressing bottlenecks affecting timely completion.

The review covered the status of works under PWD R&B, including projects executed for other departments, NABARD-funded schemes, District Capex Budget, permanent restoration of roads and Revival, Restoration, Preservation and Maintenance of Heritage Sites and Monuments.

During the meeting, the Superintending Engineer PWD R&B Circle Rajouri Manzoor Ahmed briefed the Deputy Commissioner about the physical and financial progress of various schemes and projects. The Deputy Commissioner conducted a detailed division-wise review of road connectivity, building infrastructure and heritage conservation works.

The Deputy Commissioner directed officers concerned to maintain the highest standards of quality and ensure strict adherence to project timelines. He also directed them to regularly monitor the progress of works and take proactive measures to avoid delays, with special focus on expediting projects under Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan to improve infrastructure for tribal communities.

The Deputy Commissioner reviewed forest-related issues affecting developmental works and directed departments concerned to resolve such issues on priority through coordinated efforts to prevent hampering of ongoing projects. The Deputy Commissioner stressed the need for early allotment of pending tenders for NABARD-funded projects wherever the process is incomplete.

He issued similar directions for projects under the District Capex Budget to ensure speedy allotment, timely commencement of works and judicious utilisation of funds. The meeting also reviewed the progress of restoration and preservation works at important heritage sites, including Shahi Masjid Nowshera, Channi Prat Temple, Radha Krishna Temple, Khamba Fort, Shiv Temple Khamba, Raghunath Temple Channi Prat and Bawli Lower Kharaq.

The Deputy Commissioner directed officers concerned to accelerate the pace of work while ensuring proper conservation standards. The Deputy Commissioner directed officers concerned to maintain proper records of all developmental works and strengthen inter-departmental coordination for implementation of projects.
