Punjab Congress president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring today demanded that the Aam Aadmi Party government must pay Rs 51,000 to each and every woman in Punjab as it had promised before the 2022 elections. He accused the AAP government of cheating the women of Punjab by denying them the cash assistance for four and a half years and paying them peanuts at the end of the term.

He said, people of Punjab, women in particular understand the AAP’s designs that the cash assistance was started just ahead of elections. Warring also ridiculed the AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal’s claims that the Punjab government scheme was “world’s largest women empowerment” scheme.

“This is a characteristic and classic lie by Kejriwal”, he remarked, while pointing out, the Congress ruled states like Telangana and Karnataka are paying Rs 2500 and Rs 2000 respectively to women. He said, the Congress did not cheat the women the way the AAP cheated them in Punjab.

He said, immediately after Congress governments were formed in Telangana and Karnataka, the cash assistance scheme for women started and money was directly transferred into their bank accounts. The same scheme will be implemented in Punjab the same way as in Telangana and Karnataka, once the Congress forms government in Punjab after the 2027 assembly elections.
