Haryana Industries and Commerce Minister, Rao Narbir Singh on Thursday attended the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sammelan in Gurugram to mark the completion of 12 years of the Government of India.  Representatives of Gram Panchayats, Gram Sachivs, Zila Parishad members, Block Samiti members, and officers and employees of various departments participated in the event.

The Sammelan aimed to disseminate information about the developmental achievements of the Central Government over the past 12 years, its public welfare schemes, and the vision of Viksit Bharat among the people.Addressing the gathering, Rao Narbir Singh said that under the leadership of Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi, India has achieved historic milestones in the fields of development, good governance, and public welfare over the last 12 years.

He said that through various Central Government schemes, farmers, the poor, women, and youth have been empowered. Initiatives such as the Kisan Credit Card Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi, and Har Ghar Jal have transformed the face of rural India.

Today, every section of society is participating in the country's development journey, and India is moving forward with full determination towards the goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047, said the Minister.Rao Narbir Singh said that India has come a long way in the field of foodgrain production.

There was a time when the country had to import wheat from abroad to meet its domestic requirements, but today Indian farmers are not only feeding the nation but are also contributing to the food requirements of other countries. He said that agricultural production alone would not be sufficient for India to become a developed nation.

The Minister said that equal emphasis must also be placed on technology, innovation, and industrial development. Several small countries have achieved developed-nation status through advancements in technology and industry, and India must move rapidly in the same direction.

The Cabinet Minister said that the Haryana Government has introduced a new industrial policy and taken significant steps towards creating new avenues for investment and employment generation. He especially called upon youth and people from rural areas to come forward and explore opportunities in industry and entrepreneurship.

Describing environmental conservation as an essential requirement for a developed India, Rao Narbir Singh said that maintaining a balance between development and environmental protection is the need of the hour. He urged people to undertake large-scale plantation during the monsoon season and stressed that planting trees alone is not enough; their care and maintenance are equally important.

Referring to the Prime Minister’s ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ campaign, he said that every citizen should play an active role in protecting the environment. The Cabinet Minister appealed to the public to completely stop the use of single-use plastic and polythene, stating that public participation is the most important factor in controlling pollution.

He urged Panchayat representatives to launch dedicated campaigns in their villages to make them polythene-free. He said that if society and the government work together, Gurugram can be transformed into a clean, green, and pollution-free district.
