Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw on Wednesday said India is moving towards becoming a trusted global partner in electronics manufacturing, as he inaugurated global manufacturing company Jabil’s new advanced manufacturing facility in Maharashtra that will produce components for AI data centres.

The high-tech facility, located at Ranjangaon near Pune, will manufacture components used in artificial intelligence (AI) data centres, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Make in India, Make for the World”, Vaishnaw said in a post on social media platform X.

The minister inaugurated the facility along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. “India to be a trusted global partner in everything electronics. Inaugurated Jabil’s new advanced manufacturing facility with Maharashtra CM Dev Fadnavis.

This high-tech plant will manufacture components of AI data centers, in line with PM Narendra Modi’s vision of ‘Make in India, Make for the World’,” Vaishnaw said. The development marks another step in India’s efforts to strengthen its electronics manufacturing ecosystem and position itself as a key global hub for advanced technology production.

The focus on AI data centre components comes at a time when demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure is rising rapidly across the world. Jabil has been expanding its manufacturing footprint in India. Last year, Vaishnaw had announced that the global manufacturing company was investing more than Rs 2,000 crore in the country for Silicon Photonics and Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS).

The minister had also said that Jabil’s manufacturing plant at Sanand in Gujarat was nearing completion. Jabil operates more than 100 locations across over 25 countries and employs more than 140,000 people globally. The company serves some of the world’s largest brands across sectors including healthcare, packaging, smartphones, cloud equipment, automotive and home appliances.

The company has also emerged as one of the major beneficiaries under the government’s Telecom Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme. According to Department of Telecommunications data, Jabil received Rs 235.87 crore in incentives over two financial years, the highest among the companies covered under the scheme.
