Cycling Association of Punjab organizes ASMITA Khelo India Women League and Cycle Rally on the occasion of World Bicycle Day

On the occasion of World Bicycle Day, the Cycling Association of Punjab organized the ASMITA Khelo India Women League and a grand cycle rally at Phase-07, Mohali, with great enthusiasm and excitement. The main objective of the event was to encourage women to take up cycling, develop an interest in sports, and promote a healthy lifestyle.

On this occasion, women cyclists participated in different age categories and showcased their talent, skills, and determination. A great deal of enthusiasm was witnessed among the participants, and each category witnessed tough competition.

According to the results, in the Sub-Junior category, Arshita secured the first position, while Parinaaz bagged the second position. In the Junior category, Poonya secured first place, while Samaira finished second. In the Elite category, Deep Inder Kaur claimed the first position, Nemi secured second, and Harpreet Kaur Kang stood third, impressing the audience and sports enthusiasts with their outstanding performances.

Speaking on the occasion, Jagdeep Singh Kahlon, General Secretary of the Cycling Association of Punjab, said that the objective of the ASMITA Khelo India Women League is to motivate women to come forward in sports and provide them with a strong competitive platform. He added that cycling is not only a sport but also plays an important role in maintaining fitness, protecting the environment, and improving traffic management.

He further said that, to promote cycling in Punjab on a larger scale, the association will organize more competitions, training camps, and awareness campaigns in the future so that more young people, especially girls, can take up the sport.

He also expressed special gratitude to the President of the Cycling Federation of India, Shri Pankaj Singh, Chairman S. Onkar Singh, Secretary General S. Maninderpal Singh, and the President of the Cycling Association of Punjab, Charanjit Singh, along with General Secretary Jagdeep Singh, for bringing this important event to Punjab.

The event was attended by Junior World Champion hockey player Inderjit Singh Chadha, Madam Jotinder Kaur, Commandant CISF, Brigadier H.S. Bedi, and Pradeep Kumar, ETO, as chief and special guests. While felicitating the winners, they said that the increasing participation of women in sports is a matter of pride for Punjab and that such initiatives provide them with opportunities to excel at national and international levels.

On this occasion, Jasvir Singh (Vice President), Sukhjinder Singh (Joint Secretary), Madam Damanpreet Kaur (Chairperson, Event Management Committee), Amandeep Singh Rumana, along with several sports enthusiasts, coaches, and players, were also present.

At the conclusion of the event, the winners were honoured with medals and mementoes, and best wishes were extended for their bright future. The event proved to be an important step towards promoting women’s empowerment and strengthening sports culture.
