Deputy Commissioner Doda Krishan Lal today chaired a review meeting to assess the progress of registrations under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan (PM-SYM) Scheme in the district and emphasised the need for intensified outreach to ensure maximum coverage of eligible workers from the unorganised sector.
Assistant Labour Commissioner Doda briefed the chair on the current status of registrations under the scheme. Reviewing the progress, the Deputy Commissioner directed all departments concerned to identify and enroll eligible beneficiaries within their respective sectors.
He stressed the importance of coordinated efforts to extend the benefits of the pension scheme to workers engaged in the unorganised sector. The Health Department was instructed to facilitate the registration of eligible ASHA workers, while the Agriculture Department was directed to mobilise and register eligible farmers under the scheme.
The Executive Officers of Municipal Council Doda and Municipal Committees Thathri and Bhaderwah were directed to identify and enroll eligible street vendors as well as eligible casual workers engaged by their respective institutions. Similarly, the Tourism Department was asked to ensure the registration of workers associated with tourism-related activities.
The Deputy Commissioner further directed the Sericulture Department to register eligible farmers and traders connected with the sericulture sector. The Fisheries Department was assigned targets for the enrollment of eligible licence holders engaged in fisheries-related activities.
The National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) was instructed to register eligible members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs), while Common Service Centre (CSC) operators were asked not only to facilitate registrations but also to enroll themselves, if eligible under the scheme.
The Chief Education Officer was directed to ensure the enrollment of eligible Mid-Day Meal workers. The Deputy Commissioner also instructed the Assistant Labour Commissioner and CSC operators to work in close coordination and organise awareness and registration camps across the district to accelerate coverage under PM-SYM.
The Deputy Commissioner further directed all departments concerned to set individual institutional targets for registration under the scheme and ensure the weekly submission of progress reports. He also instructed the Assistant Labour Commissioner Doda to coordinate closely with the officers and departments concerned to facilitate timely online registration and submission of beneficiary details on the PM-SYM portal.
Among those present were Additional Deputy Commissioner Doda, General Manager District Industries Centre Doda, Programme Officer ICDS Doda, Assistant Commissioner Development Doda, Chief Medical Officer, Chief Agriculture Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer, Assistant Labour Commissioner Doda and other officers of various stakeholder departments, while Tehsildars and Block Development Officers participated through virtual mode.
