Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Alyas Khan today chaired a meeting of line department officers, Block Development Officers and Tehsildars to review progress of registrations under the Pradhan Mantri Shram Yogi Maandhan Yojana (PM-SYM) and directed all concerned to ensure full coverage of all eligible beneficiaries in the district.

Among those present were Additional Deputy Commissioner Varunjeet Singh Charak, Programme Officer (ICDS) Abdul Qayoom, General Manager (DIC), Chief Agriculture Officer, Chief Animal Husbandry Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Nodal Officer (JKRLM), Assistant Labour Commissioner and other district officers concerned.

The Assistant Commissioner (Development), Tehsildars and BDOs participated virtually. The Deputy Commissioner stated that PM-SYM aims to provide social security and old-age protection to workers in the unorganised sector. He directed all line departments to ensure 100 percent registration of eligible beneficiaries within their respective sectors, including street vendors, construction workers, agricultural labourers and other unorganised workers aged 18 to 40 years.

The DC assigned department-wise targets to achieve the desired registration goals across the district and instructed Tehsildars and BDOs to extend all necessary support to eligible beneficiaries for registration and timely contribution payments, utilising the services of Common Service Centre operators and Village Level Entrepreneurs.

He further stressed the need for coordinated efforts among all stakeholders to maximise awareness about the scheme and ensure that no eligible worker is left uncovered.
