Cabinet Minister Aman Arora today honoured talented athlete Sehnoor Bawa, a resident of village Khadial in Sangrur district, for winning a gold medal in the relay event while representing India at the Under-20 Asian Athletics Championships held in Hong Kong. On the occasion, he congratulated Sehnoor Bawa and extended his best wishes for her bright future.
Aman Arora said that Sehnoor Bawa’s achievement is a matter of pride not only for the Sunam region but also for the entire state of Punjab and the country. He remarked that winning a gold medal for the nation at the international level despite coming from a humble background reflects her hard work, dedication, and determination.
He further stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is committed to promoting sports and providing every possible facility to athletes. As a result, Punjab’s youth are excelling at national and international levels and bringing laurels to the state.
Aman Arora said that daughters like Sehnoor Bawa serve as an inspiration to the youth of Punjab. He expressed hope that, in the years to come, she would represent India at the Olympics and other world-level competitions and set new milestones.
He added that the Punjab Government is continuously making efforts to provide athletes with advanced training facilities, sports infrastructure, and the necessary financial support. Modern stadiums are being developed across the state, while qualified coaches are being appointed to raise the standard of sports.
The Cabinet Minister also appreciated Sehnoor Bawa’s coach, Jaspreet Singh, and said that coaches play a crucial role in the success of athletes. He noted that, in addition to Sehnoor’s hard work and dedication, the guidance of her coach had been instrumental in her achievement.
Aman Arora further stated that crores of rupees are being invested in the Sunam Assembly constituency to promote sports through the development of state-of-the-art sports stadiums and the provision of various sporting facilities. These include an astro-turf hockey ground and a synthetic athletics track.
He expressed confidence that, in the near future, the land of martyrs, Sunam, would emerge as a major centre for sports. On the occasion, Sehnoor Bawa and her family members thanked Aman Arora for the honour and assured him that she would continue to work hard and prepare diligently to achieve even greater accomplishments for the country in the future.
