Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today completed his self-enumeration through the online portal se.census.gov.in under the self-enumeration drive for the Census-2027. Director of Census Operations, Himachal Pradesh, Deep Shikha Sharma, along with senior departmental officers, briefed the Chief Minister on the features and procedures of the digital census process.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people of the state to actively participate in this important national exercise and complete their self-enumeration by 15 June, 2026. He said that the Census serves as the backbone of democratic governance and development by providing vital information on population, family conditions, housing, resources and access to public services.

He said that census data forms the basis for development planning and the formulation of welfare-oriented policies and programmes. Sh. Sukhu said that Census-2027 in Himachal Pradesh will be conducted in two phases.

The first phase, comprising House Listing and Housing Census, will be undertaken from 16 June to 15 July, 2026. The second phase will involve population enumeration. He said that the Census will be conducted in digital mode, with enumerators and supervisors using mobile devices for the collection of data relating to houses and households.

The Chief Minister further said that population enumeration in the snow-bound areas of the state will be conducted from  11 to 30 September, 2026, while in the remaining areas it will be carried out from  9 to 28 February, 2027. He urged the people to extend their wholehearted cooperation in the successful conduct of this nationally significant exercise by providing complete and accurate information to enumerators, supervisors and other census officials.
