Although nearly nine months are still left before the Assembly elections, political activities have already intensified in the Lehra constituency. While leaders of opposition parties are searching for political ground, the development and welfare works carried out by Cabinet Minister Advocate Barinder Goyal for the overall progress and prosperity of the constituency are receiving immense appreciation from the public.
As a result, people from various villages are leaving different political parties and joining the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP). Recently, the joining of a renowned commission agent into AAP had already created unease among opposition parties. Continuing this trend, today in village Khandebad, hundreds of traditional Congress families announced their decision to quit Congress and join the Aam Aadmi Party after being impressed by the works of Minister Goyal.
A large number of women were also among those who joined the party. At an impressive function organized in village Khandebad, Minister Goyal attended along with his wife, Mrs. Seema Goyal, and son, Gaurav Goyal, where they welcomed and honored the families joining AAP.
The villagers gave a warm reception to the Goyal family. Speaking on the occasion, Minister Goyal said that the increasing number of people joining the Aam Aadmi Party proves that the people of Punjab are fully satisfied and happy with the development works being carried out under the able leadership of Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann.
He assured that every person joining the party would be given full respect and recognition. He further stated that the Aam Aadmi Party would register a sweeping victory in the upcoming Municipal Corporation and Municipal Council elections in the state, while opposition parties would lose their security deposits.
Minister Goyal also termed the BJP-led Central Government anti-Punjab and anti-farmer, holding it responsible for the rising inflation in the country. On the other hand, the traditional Congress families joining AAP — including Dalwinder Singh, Kulwinder Singh, Manjit Singh (sons of former Sarpanch Ram Kartar Singh), Ravi Sarao, Tarsem Singh, Amar Chain Singh, Gamdoor Singh, Manpreet Ram Sharma, Mangat Ram, Birbal Khan, Darshan Singh, Tara Singh, Gurwinder Singh, Jaswinder Kaur, Gagandeep Kaur, Gurmel Kaur, Kirna Kaur, and others — said that although they and their families had long been associated with Congress, they were deeply impressed by the works carried out by Minister Goyal and the entire Goyal family for village development. Therefore, they decided to join the Aam Aadmi Party.
They further stated that, keeping in view the 2027 Assembly elections, they would leave no stone unturned in taking the policies of the Aam Aadmi Party to every household and would ensure Minister Goyal’s victory with a record margin once again. Apart from Minister Goyal’s OSD, Rakesh Kumar Gupta, the event was attended by youth leader Ajay Kumar Tholi, Truck Union President Satpal Singh Kala, Badal Singh, Shinderpal Singh, Amritpal Kaur (Vice Chairperson, Block Samiti), Bawa Singh Dhillon, Makhan Singh, Pragat Singh (Sarpanch, Phoolad), Binder Singh Sekhuwas, Paveen Kumar Tinka, along with a large number of sarpanches, panches, party leaders, and volunteers.
